Obituary of Frank Taylor Putney, Sr.

Frank Taylor Putney, Sr. of Wytheville, born January 28, 1927 in Guinea Mills, Virginia, passed away Friday, February 9, 2018. Frank is survived by his wife, Kathy; sister-in-law, Kay Wilson; son, Taylor and wife Fran; their children, Jordan and Maddy; daughter, Barb and husband Gerry Oefelein; Barb’s son, Quillan Mitchell and wife Saqqara; and great granddaughter, Wren Mitchell, and others too numerous to list here.

 

Some of his community activities include starting Habitat for Humanity in Wythe County; managing the Wythe County Blood Mobile for 25 years; longtime active member and past president of the Lions Club, who received the Melvin Jones Fellow award; and active long-time member of West End United Methodist Church, including care of the parsonage and working on many committees. In his career, Frank was the Farm Supply Supervisor for Southwest Virginia for Southern States Cooperative. He was an avid golfer, gardener and carpenter.

 

If the rest of us tried half as hard to make the world a better place, it would all be repaired in short order.

 

A celebration of a life well lived, will be held 3 P.M. at West End United Methodist Church in Wytheville on Saturday, February 17, 2018, conducted by The Reverend Ann Blair and The Reverend Richard G. Lindamood. Visitation will be held Saturday from 2 P.M. until service time. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the West End United Methodist Church, 1030 W. North Street, Wytheville, VA 24382.
