Obituary of Frances Taylor Godfriaux

Frances Taylor Godfriaux, age 88, passed away Sunday, March 25, 2018, at her home in Wytheville, VA. She was preceded in death by husband of 64 years, Raymond E. Godfriaux.

She is survived by her four children, daughter, Frances Lynn Maloy and son-in-law Joe of Colorado, Springs, CO; Michele “Shelly: Trantham and son-in-law Bryan of Waynesville, NC; Raymond “Bud” Godfriaux and daughter-in-law Melissa of Braselton, GA; daughter, Andrea Caudill and son-in-law Richard of Rural Retreat, VA. She is also survived by 11 beautiful grandchildren.

Frances was a 1951 graduate of the New England Conservatory of music, married her husband of 64 years in 1953 and became a P.E.O. sister in 1954. She became a very well know piano teacher for 28 years, 25 of those years in Wytheville. She also preformed numerous 1 and 2 piano concerts, many with local and talented Jim Spraker. She was often quoted, “The good Lord blessed me with the talent so I definitely loved being able to share it with so many”. She taught well over 100 students, several of them advancing their talent on to places such as William and Mary, Florida State and Oklahoma Universities.

A musical tribute for Fran will be presented at St. Paul United Methodist Church, on April 12, 2018 stating at 11 A.M. in the church sanctuary.

Visitation will be held at the home, at 875 N. 12th Street, Wytheville, VA 24382 on April 13, 2018, from 4 P.M. until 8 P.M. In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to your charity of choice. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.grubbfuneralhome.com
