Margie Maxine Viars Dunford, age 88, of to be with the Lord on Saturday January 25, 2025. She was born in Virginia on June 15, 1936 to the late Ruben Issac and Margie Cregger Viars. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years John Clark Dunford, Sr.; five brothers Pete, Howard, Malcolm, Johnny and Charles Viars; two sisters Ruby Hopkins and baby sister. Maxine was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, she will be missed by all who knew her. She was a member of the Fort Chiswell Methodist Church.

Survivors include her three sons and daughters-in-law, John Clark, Jr. of Max Meadows; Barry Dunford and Linda Frye of Wytheville; Kevin and Betty Dunford of Dublin; brother and sister-in-law, James and Phyllis Viars of Max Meadows; sister, Frances Lawson of Max Meadows; four grandchildren Ashely and Randy Hagler of Christiansburg; Mark Dunford of Wytheville; Danielle Weaver of Piney; Brandon and Erica Dunford of Richmond; four great grandchildren, Ethan Cassell, Logan Hagler, Sydney Hagler and Serenity Taylor; and several extended family members also survive.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday January 30, 2025 at the Fort Chiswell Methodist Church with Reverend Richard Lindamood officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery in Piney. The family will receive friends Thursday from 12 noon until the time of the service at the church.
