Obituary of Mary Kathaline Arnold

Mary Kathaline Arnold, age 84, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on January 27, 2025, while surrounded by family. She was born November 4, 1940, in Wytheville, Virginia. Mary was known as a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved spending time with her family. She was also a very kind and generous woman. Mary was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ and taught Sunday School for many years. Mary was preceded in death by her loving husband, John Robert Arnold; grandson, Joseph Baumgardner; sons-in-law, Ted Baumgardner and Herbert Halsey; her parents Sidney and Elsie Stroupe and brother, Sherman Stroupe. She is survived by her daughters, Cleadith Halsey, and Vanessa Baumgardner; son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Debbie Arnold; grandchildren, Sharon Shupe, Angie Alford, Ginger Norman, John Halsey, and Brandi Arnold; great grandchildren, Kayla Alford, Ruth Joines, and Ivah Norman. Also surviving are sisters, Minnie Dunford, Nancy Osborne, Loretta Dunford, Rosetta Presley, Brenda Arnold, and Leona Dean; brother, Sidney “Buttermilk” Stroupe, friend and former caregiver, Glenda Dunford, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 2 P.M. Friday January 31, 2025, at Grubb Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Pastor Guy Testerman and Reverend Jack Rutherford with interment to follow in the Rosenbaum Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 12 noon until service time.
