Obituary of David Jerome Plummer

David Jerome Plummer, 72, of Wytheville, VA, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2025, from complications of COPD. While Dave had been in declining health, his passing was unexpected and deeply felt by those who loved him. Dave was preceded in death by his devoted wife of over 45 years, Penny S. Plummer; his parents, Dr. Kenneth M. Plummer and Ann Fresh Plummer; and his brother, Kenneth A. Plummer. He is survived by his stepdaughter, Christina Brady, and her husband, JR; his cherished granddaughters, Grace and Abigail Brady; and his nephews, Kenneth, David, and Christopher Plummer, who each held a special place in his heart. Born in Illinois, Dave moved with his family to Buckhannon, WV, at an early age. A prodigious talent, his journey as a musician began at just three years old. Over the decades, Dave became a masterful keyboardist, playing multiple instruments and leaving an indelible mark on the world of music. He toured worldwide for over a decade, bringing joy to countless audiences, before settling in Wytheville in 1996 with his beloved wife, Penny, and their treasured animals. In his later years, Dave ran his own handyman and remodeling business, where he was known for his craftsmanship and dedication. Dave’s talent as a musician was matched by his warmth, humor, and an unforgettable belly laugh that could light up any room. To those who knew him, he was a "hell of a guy"—a man whose character, kindness, and passion for life left a lasting impact. Though he is gone, the music he created and the love he shared with family and friends will resonate forever in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know him. A memorial service to celebrate Dave & Penny’s life will be held in the summer of 2025.
