Obituary of Clara Lefler Callahan

Clara Lefler Callahan, age 96, of Wytheville, passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2025. She was born in Wythe County to the late parents Harvey Kent and Lura Spraker Lefler. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Walter Callahan, three sisters, three brothers and an infant son Charles Walter Callahan; and a granddaughter, Julie DiPietro. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Roger Smelser of Wytheville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Allen and Judy Callahan of Speedwell; Paul and Salli Callahan of Wytheville; six grandsons and spouses, Wayne Smelser, Kevin and Tracy Smelser and Eric and Tabitha Callahan, Greg, Chris and Tony Callahan; four granddaughters and spouses, Renae and Paul Jones; Holly and Tommy Atkins, Stachia Callahan and Wayne Buck, Stacey Callahan; several great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Graveside service will be held 2 P.M. Saturday, February 22, 2025 at the Mt. View Church Cemetery in Smith Hollow with Pastor Aubrey Whitlow officiating.
