Obituary of Bessie Elizabeth Goff Roland

Bessie Elizabeth Goff Roland 95, of Wytheville, Va. passed away at home on Monday, May 12, 2025, after a long and fulfilling life. Bessie was born on March 9, 1930, in West Virginia, up Wilcoe Hollow, to James and Lilly Goff. She was 1 of 13 children. She was preceded in death by her husband Edgar Clifton Roland of 31 years. Also preceding her in death are her parents and 2 children, infant son Eddie and a daughter Deborah Roland Hurley; Johnny, 5 sisters, Helen Wilt, Alice Spencer, Lois Powell, Frances Walton and Annabell Goff, 2 brothers Jimmy Goff and Danny Goff, 2 grandsons, Randolph Roland Jr. and John Clifton Roland. Surviving Mrs. Roland are 2 sons, Randolph Roland (Kathy) and James Roland (Lynn); daughter, Susan Castle (Johnny Ray). She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Heather Emrich (Jim), Amanda Hartley (Darrell), Elizabeth Estep (John), Ann Greenway (Patrick), Chelsea Roland (Adam), 10 Great grandchildren, Gracie, Mia, Trever, Tyler, Olivia, Jonah, Eli, Emmy, Marissa and Sabrina. 1 Great-Great Grandson. Funeral service will be held 11 A.M. Friday, May 16, 2025, at Grubb Funeral Home Chapel conducted by The Reverend Authur Chapman and The Reverend Charles Patton. Interment will follow at 2 P.M. in the Roselawn Cemetery, 450 Courthouse Rd., Princeton, WV 24740. The family will receive friends Friday from 10 A.M until service time.
