Obituary of Lana Jane "Janie" Pugh

Lana Jane Pugh “Janie” of Wytheville Va passed away Friday May 16th, 2025, peacefully at Hillsville Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was surrounded by family, her Pastor, and facility staff. Born February 26th, 1947, age 78. Lana lived life being happy and spreading cheer to anyone she came in contact with. She loved her family and her church. Rarely seen without a smile she will be greatly missed by those who met her. She started life in the caring arms of her mother, Ruth Scott and tolerated her sisters, Emily Slack and Paula Mitzel, who came with a love and bond that cannot even be broken by death. Jack Scott and Joe Mitzel, the husbands of Ruth and Paula, are now passed the task of keeping an eye on them. She was and shall remain known for the love she had for being a selfless mother to Melissa Hernandez and husband Martin. Randy Pugh, his fiancé Jennifer Williams, and Kayla Pugh. A grandmother to the best grandchildren ever Sydney Hodges and husband Tyler, and Levi Lawrence. She was proud of them, and they will greatly miss her. Putting the largest smile on with her face was the latest additions her great grandchildren, Marleigh Lawrence, her mother Ashley Sykes, and Hutton Hodges. Preceded in death by her father Elbert Hunter and brother Allen Hunter. A memorial service will be held 2 P.M. Saturday, May 24, 2025, at Grubb Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Pastor Andrew Davis. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1 P.M until service time. A reception will be held at the Draper Valley Pentecostal Holiness Church, 5662 E. Lee Hwy.
