Obituary of Michael Todd Simmons

Michael Todd Simmons age 53, of Rural Retreat, passed away on May 30, 2025. He was born on May 5, 1972 to William L. Simmons and the late Flora Mae Harmon. Michael attended Rural Retreat Pentecostal Holiness Church and Liberty Hill Pentecostal Holiness Church. He was a Longtime Member of Speedwell and Rural Retreat Fire Departments. Survivors include his wife, Sheila Simmons of Rural Retreat; two daughters, Grayson Simmons and Fiancé Zachary Johnson of Speedwell; Mattie Simmons of Speedwell; grandson, Holden Simmons; father and stepmother, William L. and Elizabeth Simmons of Wytheville; four siblings, Charles Simmons of Piney; Kathy and Ronnie Hudson of Piney; Patrick Simmons of Piney; Lynn Sheets of Wytheville; nephew, Cody Sheets; two nieces, Kimberly Sheets and Kelsey Simmons; aunt, Dorthy “Tootsie” Freeman of Austinville; uncle Reed Fisher of Piney; special friends, B.G., Trina and Isaac Felts; James and Dawn Harmon and a host of friends. Funeral service will be held 7 P.M. Monday, June 2, 2025 at the Liberty Hill Pentecostal Holiness Church with Pastor Josh Graham officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 P.M. Monday at the Church. Graveside service will be private. In lieu of flowers family request that donations be made to the Rural Retreat Fire Department P.O. Box 238 Rural Retreat, VA 24368.
