
Obituary of Deborah Lynn Kitts
Deborah Lynn Kitts, 59, of Summerville, South Carolina, passed peacefully from this world and into the arms of her God and Savior, Friday, May 30, 2025, at 11:58 a.m. She passed into eternal peace while being held by the hand, by her sole care giver, her husband of nearly a quarter century.
She was born in Olean, New York, on May 1st, 1966, as the adopted, and only child, of her mother, Anne Wheaton, and her father, Robert Wheaton. She is a 1984 graduate of Orchard Park Senior High School, Orchard Park, New York. She was also graduated from Radford University, Radford, Virginia, with her BBA in Accounting and Finance (cum laude) in 1998. She received her MBA in Business Administration, also from Radford University, in 2009. All the while working full time at the Registrar’s Office at Radford University.
She was employed at the Radford Army Ammunition Plant in their Finance Department before finding a job as an Advising Coordinator in RU’s College of Humanities and Behavioral Sciences. She excelled in her job duties at RU up to moving to Summerville, South Carolina, to assume an Advising Coordinator’s position in the College of Psychiatry at the Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston, South Carolina, in 2016. She maintained that position until medical issues, involving Guillain-Barre Syndrome, required her to step down from that position in 2020. She remained home bound until her passing.
Deborah was preceded in death by her parents, Anne and Robert Wheaton.
Survivors include her husband, and celestial sole mate of 26 years, Dennis DuLane Kitts. One stepdaughter and her husband, Leigh Ann Kitts Reygers and Robert Reygers. One step granddaughter, Kenzie Elise Reygers. All of Stem, North Carolina. One daughter, Jessica Briann Keiling, of Beckley, West Virginia. She is also survived by Mr. John Sullivan, Deborah’s mother’s widower, Bradenton, Florida.
Deborah’s husband and immediate family will receive friends at the Grubb Funeral Home Chapel, Friday, June 6, 2025, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 p.m. The funeral will be held at the Grubb Funeral Home Chapel, Saturday, June 7, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. A short graveside surface will follow at the Rosewood Memorial Gardens cemetery, Route 11, Rural Retreat, Virginia. Flowers, as an expression of sympathy, can be sent to the Grubb Funeral Home, Deborah Kitts service.
