Arlene Layne Haymaker age 86, of Wytheville, passed away on June 26, 2025. She was born on December 30, 1938 to the late Kyle C. and Ethel Shelton Layne. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Haymaker and a brother, Darrell Layne. Arlene was a member of the Mt Mitchell Methodist Church.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Cella and Larry Porterfield of Wytheville; two grandchildren, Chandra and Rodney Fultz of Riner; Cristin and Jeff Miller of Wytheville; two great grandchildren, Caroline Fultz and Shelbie Miller; one sister, Geraldine Stone of South Carolina.

Funeral service will be held 11 A.M. Monday, June 30, 2025 at the Grubb Funeral Home with Pastor Aubrey Whitlow and Pastor T.R. King officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt Mitchell Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 P.M. Sunday at the Grubb Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Mt Mitchell Cemetery Fund 4910 Stoney Fork Road Wytheville, VA 24382.
