Ruth Janell Yonce Clark age 88, of Wytheville, passed away on July 9, 2025 surrounded by her family. She was born in Wythe County on March 16, 1937 to the late Kent L. and Cynthia Blankenship Yonce. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas D. "Tom" Clark. Ruth was a lifelong active member of Saint Lukes Lutheran Church and loved making Apple Butter with the Walker Mt Parrish. She continued to serve as Pianist and Financial Secretary. Her first job was Secretary for Wythe County Farm Bureau. She remained very active with the Wythe County Farm Bureau Women’s Community including the Blood Drive, Dairy Day, Farmers Market and the Farm Bureau Picnic. Ruth shall be remembered for her great and kind loving care of people. She was a super cook and prepared many good meals at her home and for her parish churches.
Survivors include her sister, Linda Y Hagy of Wytheville; two nephews, Jeff Hagy and companion Benita VanAntwerp of Wytheville; Jamey and Sharon Hagy of Wytheville; niece, Joni Hagy Herrell and Channing Herrell of Keedysville, MD; great niece and nephews, Anna & Brian, Vince & Kaitlyn, Nick and Levi & Jessica; great-great nephews and nieces, Niles, Waylon, Vallie and Navie; and her mini family, Allen, Frank, Bev, Sam and Sis.
Funeral service will be held 11 A.M. Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at the Grubb Funeral Home with Pastor Jonathon Hammon officiating. Interment will follow in the St John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 P.M. Monday at the Grubb Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family request donation be made to the Saint Lukes Lutheran Church c/o Mary “Sis” Cassell 205 Saint Lukes Road Wytheville, VA 24382.
