Margaret Isabel Pickett Jones, “Nannie,” age 93, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2025. Nannie was a devoted mother, and her warmth, wisdom, and spunky spirit will be treasured and remembered. She always brought joy and laughter to those around her. She lived a full and happy life until her passing, having made many friends at the Carillon in Greensboro, North Carolina. She leaves behind a legacy of strength and kindness that will eternally shine.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Walter Garfield Jones, and her beloved son, Roger Lee Jones. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Mayella Doss and Velma Johnson, as well as her brother, Fred Pickett Jr.

Those left to lovingly remember her are her sisters, Clarice Dalton and Freda Taylor (Donnie); and her children- Doug Jones (Brenda), Brenda Kay Lester (David), Becky Roberts (Doug), and Channie McGee (Robin). She was steadfast in her love and found great joy in her grandchildren: Kevin Jones (Melanie), Dave Lester (Valerie), Erin Smith (Joe), Chris Lester (Bree), Benjamin Roberts (Hanna), Eric McGee, Ross McGee, and Logan McGee. Her joy was further multiplied by her great-grandchildren: Hailey Smith, Autumn Lester, Holt Smith, Eira Mae Lester, and Hollie Smith.

While our hearts are saddened, the family finds comfort in knowing she is with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and reunited in heaven with her true love and husband of 52 years, Garfield. We are all assured they will have the finest garden heaven has ever seen.

A celebration of life will be held on Monday, July 28, 2025, at Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church, 200 Mount Pleasant Road, Wytheville, Virginia 24382. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. with the service immediately following at 3:00 p.m. Graveside service to follow at Mount View Methodist Church.
