Edith “Edie” Thomas Bartee age 73, of Speedwell, passed away on July 30, 2025. She was born in Wythe County on May 8, 1952 to the late James Harold and Margaret Horne Thomas. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Charlie Ray Thomas and Roger Dale Thomas.

Survivors include her husband of 55 years, James “Fuzzy” Dexter Bartee of Speedwell; daughter, Sarina Simmons of Speedwell; two granddaughters, Mattie Simmons; Grayson Simmons (Zachary Johnson); great grandson, Holden Lance Simmons; three sisters Linda and Carlton White of Wytheville; Nancy and Harold Willis of Gate City; Susie Stuart of Speedwell; brother, James “Bo” Thomas of Speedwell; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2 P.M. Sunday, August 3, 2025, at the Grubb Funeral Home with Pastor Doug Stuart officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Pine Grove Cemetery on Dry Road. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until the time of the service at the funeral home.
