Randolph Stanley “Randy” "Rudell" Phillippi, Sr. age 76, passed away on Thursday, July 31, 2025. He was born in Wytheville on February 16, 1949, to the late Ethel Marie Phillippi.

He was retired from W.T. Milam Construction in Martinsville, VA. A proud outdoorsman, Randy found peace in the woods and joy on the water. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, always ready with a story about “the one that got away”. His passion for the outdoors was matched only by his love of sports. Randy could often be found cheering for his favorite teams or watching a race with the same excitement as if he was participating himself. Later in life, Randy found his greatest happiness in time spent with his beloved granddaughters and great-grandson. Whether he was sharing stories, teasing with a grin, or simply sitting nearby, his presence was a steady source of love and laughter. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. He was preceded in death by his son, Randoph Stanley “Randy” Phillippi, Jr.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, David and Nichole Phillippi of Wytheville; three granddaughters, Tara Phillippi of Wytheville; Paeton Phillippi of Nashville, TN; Kendall Phillippi of Wytheville; great grandson, Benjamin “Ben” Phillippi of Wytheville; two half-sisters, Connie Rosenbaum of Charlottesville and Debbie and Thomas Wright of Dublin.

A memorial service will be held 7 P.M. Monday, August 4, 2025, at the Grubb Funeral Home with Pastor Darren Smith and Pastor Jerry Bell officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 P.M. at the funeral home Monday. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Shriners Children’s Hospital 950 W Farris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.
