Ettie Allene Creger Taylor age 97, of Wytheville, passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2025. She was born in Wytheville on October 24, 1927 to the late Edgar and Grace Crockett Creger. Allene was a lifelong member of the Wytheville Baptist Church, and enjoyed gardening, crafts and sewing. She retired from Jafree Shirt Factory and National Seating. At age 72 Allene became a Nurse and worked at Carrington Place in Wytheville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Alvin “Tooney” Taylor; son, Carlos Taylor; granddaughter, Kami Harkless; sister, Dolly Marshall; two brothers, Thurman Creger and Bill Creger.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Melinda Taylor of Wytheville; granddaughter, Sheila Shutters; grandson, John Taylor; 7 great grandchildren; 1 great-great granddaughter; sister Florence Wilson of Charlottesville, VA; several nieces and nephews; a special friend and caregiver, Kay Shelton.
A graveside service will be held at 2 P.M. Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at the West End Cemetery with the Reverend Jack Rutherford officiating. Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.grubbfuneralhome.com Grubb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
