Frederick Lloyd Stanley Obituary

FREDERICK LLOYD STANLEY, of Wytheville, Virginia and Pensacola, Florida passed away September 21, 2025, in Wytheville. He was born in Roanoke, Virginia on February 20, 1930, to Lloyd D. Stanley and Blanche Mason Bishop. A lifelong Methodist, Mr. Stanley was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Wytheville.


He was preceded in death by his parents and infant son Frederick L Stanley, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 75 years, Elizabeth M. Stanley of Wytheville; son, F. Mark Stanley and wife Cathy of Wytheville; daughter, Ann S Agerton and husband Steve of Fairhope, Alabama; grandson Bradley Agerton and wife Kellie; and great grandchildren Ethan Agerton and Ansley Agerton of Fairhope, Alabama.


He was a graduate of Jefferson High School of Roanoke and attended Guilford College. He served in the Marine Corp Reserve then served in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean War. After working for Pure Oil Company and retiring from Union Oil Company, he moved to Wytheville and was owner/operator of the Wilderness Road 76 Auto/Truck Stop. He was a member of the Wytheville Rotary Club, a 32nd degree Mason, a Masonic Veteran of Melrose Lodge 139 in Roanoke, a member of the Zamora Shrine Temple in Birmingham, Alabama. He also served on the Foundation Board of WCC and the Wythe/Bland Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Stanley was honored as a Paul Harris Fellow.


A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 27th, 2025, at Sherwood Cemetery, Salem, Virginia with Pastor Misti McCreary officiating. A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date.
