James Robert “JR” Davis age 82, of Little Creek Community, passed away on December 11, 2025. He was born in Little Creek on August 25, 1943 to the late Gifford Lafayette and Beatrice Beulah Kitts Davis. JR was a lifelong farmer and helped his community any way he could he had served by opening and closing over 101 graves for family friends and neighbor in Little Creek. He was preceded in death by his six siblings, Glorina Sarver, Della Reynolds, David Davis, Naomi Brunk, Peggy Martin and Sue Morris.
Survivors include his wife of over 59 years, Johnnie Kate Valentine Davis of Little Creek; daughter, Freda Harmon of Little Creek; son, Tim Davis of Little Creek; four grandchildren, Jessica Davis, Ashley Davis, Brittany Harmon and Tanner Davis; nine grandchildren, Braylin Davis, Liam Harmon, Chase Hetherington, Cayden Davis, Creed Davis, Kinley Fisher, Kylie Hetherington, Lukas Harmon and Ryker Davis; sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Sam Corder of Pulaski; several nieces and nephews; special brother-in-law, Ed Morris of Charlottesville; special friend, Billy Hamblin of Spur Branch.
Funeral service will be held 7 P.M. on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at the Grubb Funeral Home with Pastor Linda Hale officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 P.M.
