Charles Cooper Wingate Obituary

Charles Cooper Wingate passed away on 12-29-25 at the age of 78. He was born in Wythe Co, VA. Parents were Bonnie and Ed Wingate.

Cooper was well known in Speedwell for his strength, values, being a hard worker and a man of his word. A sort of legend in his time. He faced many obstacles and setbacks, persevering over each one. He was also an avid baseball lover and well known for his pitching and athletic abilities.

Cooper was very protective of his family and everyone was aware. He is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Lewis (Todd), his grandsons, whom he cherished, Cooper Lucas Smelser and Adam Wythe Smelser. His beloved brother and rock, Jamie Wingate, nephew, Steven Wingate, niece, Tara Wingate and her son Eli. Numerous friends that were like family.

His wife, Davina, passed away earlier this year in August. Now, they can be together again.

There will be no service per Cooper's request. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.grubbfuneralhome.com
