Dewey L. Richmond received his wings on January 6, 2026, at Holston Valley Medical Center, Kingsport, TN after a long illness. Dewey was born March 6, 1944, the son of the late Dewey L. Richmond, Sr. and Lucille Ayers Richmond, and preceded in death by a daughter, Dedee Richmond; brother, Danny Richmond.

He was a native of Wythe County all his life spending many of his early years as a truck driver, including logging and long-haul trucking to the west coast. Later years were spent as an automotive technician. Dewey was a lifetime member of the Wythe County Rescue Squad, spending many of his active years as Captain. He loved dirt track racing, winning numerous races and championships at Wythe Raceway. He also loved boating, motorcycles, traveling, and most of all, spending time with his family.

Dewey is survived by his wife, Frances G. Richmond of Wytheville; daughter, Patty Richmond (son-in-law) Roger Conner, Wytheville; grandson, Jacob Richmond, Wytheville; sister, Virginia Riggins (brother-in-law), Joseph Riggins, Max Meadows; several nieces and nephews.
