Alma Lee Jackson Collins Obituary

Alma Lee Jackson Collins, age 95, of Max Meadows, passed away peacefully on Saturday,

January 31, 2026, following a long and courageous journey with memory loss.


Born to the late Frederick and Cora T. Jackson on November 21, 1930, Alma lived a life rooted in love for her family and devotion to her Savior. She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Douglas Jackson, Gleaves Jackson, Versal Jackson, and Mildred Dobbins.


She is survived by her beloved husband of more than 74 years, David Keith Collins, whom she married on June 30, 1951. Together, they built a life centered on family, faith, and home.


Alma had a special love for flowers and took great pride in her cherished morning glories, which she tended with care and joy. She was also an avid lover of cats and found companionship and comfort in them throughout her life.


Alma is also survived by her children; Gail Pearman (Buddy), Michael Collins (Betty), Sherri

Harmon (Tony), and Tammy Corder (Steve).


She was a proud and loving grandmother to; Joy Hart (Shannon), Tracy Brown (Chuck), Jennifer Dillow (Andy), Shaun Archer (Kisha), Michael Collins Jr. (Victoria), Ernie Williams III (Jenna), Hope Elliott (Tim) and Allyson Williams, and was blessed with 2 step-grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense joy.


A special note of gratitude is extended to her grandson and caretaker, Shaun Archer. Alma also cherished her special pet, Buttercup, who brought her comfort and companionship.

The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to the compassionate staff of Wythe Hospice of Southwest Virginia for their care, kindness, and support.


Funeral service will be held 2 P.M. Thursday, February 5, 2026, at Grubb Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Reverend Rick Lindamood and Reverend Richard Collins, with interment to follow in the Jackson Family Cemetery.
