Charles Brown “Charlie Brown” Calfee April 11, 1956 – February 6, 2026
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Charles “Charlie Brown” Brown Calfee. Charlie passed away unexpectedly at his home on the morning of February the 6th. He was a man whose heart was as big as his smile and whose presence made everyone feel welcome. Charlie loved deeply and simply. His family meant everything to him, whether he was gathered around a table, working a puzzle, tending his farm, or tinkering with an old car. He was the kind of person who never met a stranger and was always ready with a helping hand.
Charlie was born on April 11th, 1956 to Bill and Frances Calfee who precede him in death. Charlie was a ‘74 graduate of George Wythe High School and a proud alumni of Virginia Tech.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Vanessa Calfee; daughter, Becky Lewis; son and daughter in law, Jeff and Angel Calfee; step-sons, Brett and Sidney Poole; Tyler and Ashley Poole; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Autumn, River, Luke, Isabelle, Rhett, Mason and Charlynn; Three sisters, Nancy, Becky and Sandra; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Greg and Kathy Reynolds; and several nieces and nephews; and a dear coworker and friend, Frank Gravley.
Funeral service will be held 11 A.M. Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at the Grubb Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Mt Zion Church Cemetery in Piney. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
