William (Bill) Crockett Bowen, Sr. passed away on Friday February 13, 2026, at his home. Bill was born on December 10, 1939, in Bland, Virginia. he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Eversole Bowen; parents, Meek Hoge and Virginia Newberry Bowen; brother, Meek Hoge Bowen II; sister, Lucy Bowen Litton.
Bill was a graduate of Bland High School and Augusta Military Academy and was in the Army Reserves. He retired from Overnite Transportation and a retired Farmer.
Bill is survived by his sons and daughter-in-law, Sam and Lori Johnson Bowen, Allen Bowen and Bill Bowen, Jr.; daughter, Lorie Bowen and Eric Johnson; sisters and brother-in-law, Martha Ann McDonald, and Maria and Jack Carter; granddaughters, Sydney and Nathan Blalock, Anna Bowen and Amelia Bowen; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral service will be held 2 P.M. Thursday February 19, 2026, at Grubb Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Reverend Darren Smith with interment to follow in the West End Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 1 P.M. until service time. In lieu of flowers the family request donation can be made to Wythe Hospice of Southwest Virginia, 705 E.
