Fred Jackson “Jack’ Shinault age 79, of Wytheville, passed away on February 16, 2026. He was born on February 14, 1947 to the late Wilbur and Ellen Peak Shinault. He was preceded in death by 10 siblings, Rose Hamlin, Polly Shinault, Suki Cassell, Sally Blevins, Gabe Shinault, Jim Shinault, Jake Shinault, Steve Shinault, Pat “Chi Chi” Jennings and Minnie Shinault; two sister-in-law, Wanda Heldreth and Kay Porterfield, niece Wendy Porterfield Wright.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Carolyn Porterfield Shinault of Wytheville; three daughters, Cindy and Kelly Pruitt of Max Meadows; Starla and Brett Roberts of Wytheville; Jennifer Shinault of Wytheville; eight grandchildren, Kacy Pruitt, Justin and Tabby Shinault, Jared Shinault, David Pruitt, Karson Roberts, Emily Roberts, Alicia Wright and Allison Wright; five great grandchildren, C.J. King, Jordan King, Weslee Shinault, Ryelyn Shinault and Ridge Pruitt; two brothers, Merle and Kay Shinault of Ohio; Preston Shinault of Wytheville; brother-in-law, Robert Porterfield of Orange Park, FL; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held 7 P.M. Thursday, February 19, 2026 at the Grubb Funeral Home with Merle Shinault and Pastor Harry Grubb officiating. Interment will be held at 11 A.M. Friday, February 20, 2026 at the Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 P.M. Thursday at the Funeral Home.
