Barbara Ann Alderman Bass, 91, of Wytheville, Virginia, passed away Monday morning, March 9, 2026. Barbara was born December 27, 1934, in Hillsville, Virginia, to Edith Alderman Worrell. Barbara was preceded in death by the love of her life, Tommy Bass; her mother, Edith Worrell; her stepfather, Woodrow Worrell; and two half-brothers, Tom Worrell and Wayne Worrell.

She worked for Intermountain Telephone Company and later served as secretary for the Abingdon Presbytery in Wytheville. Barbara was well known in the community for her kind and giving spirit. She was an avid golfer, a dedicated Agape volunteer, and someone who was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. She enjoyed golfing, traveling, and tending to her beautiful flowers. Above all, Barbara cherished the time she spent with her family and her very special golfing buddies. Barbara's kindness, generosity, and love for her family and friends will be remembered always by those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her son, Bob Bass, and daughter-in-law, Charlotte Bass; two special step-grandchildren, Christopher Compton of Charleston, South Carolina, and Monica Compton Trenga of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina; and two precious step-great-grandchildren, Claudia and Bishop Trenga.

A memorial service to celebrate Barbara's life will be held Saturday, March 14, 2026 at 2 PM with Pastor Steve Alderman officiating at Grubb Funeral Home in Wytheville.
