Debra Jones Amburn Obituary

Debra Jones Amburn, 71, passed away surrounded by the love of her family after a short battle with cancer.

Debra was born on October 13, 1954, to Charles Buck Jones and Irene Grubb Jones. She was the eldest of six children and carried that role with strength, love, and a deep sense of responsibility for her family.

She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Buck Jones, and her sister, Marcy Jones Pugh.

She is survived by her siblings: Charles Randall Jones (Randy), Trenton Dale Jones (Bubzy), Leslie Dayne Jones (LD), and Janet Jones Mullins.

Debra was married her husband, Jerry Franklin Amburn, on March 19, 1977.

She was a graduate of George Wythe High School and spent her life centered around family, hard work, and caring for others. Debra worked at Cannon Mills in Kannapolis, NC; Phillip Morris in Concord, NC; Carrington Place in Wytheville, VA; and later Lowe’s in Lexington, NC, where she was known for her strong work ethic and her ability to always find a good deal.

Debra was a devoted mother to her two sons, Chris and David, who meant everything to her. She was a proud grandmother to Kaley, Kylah, Milee, Bryson, and Raelyn, and a loving great-grandmother to Avery, Kendrix, and Aiden.

She found joy in the simple things—working in her flower beds, spending time outdoors, cooking for her family, and keeping her home just the way she liked it. She loved her puppies, especially Max, and took pride in everything she did—even keeping her red Honda spotless.

Debra will be remembered for her quick wit, honesty, and the way she made people laugh and feel loved all at the same time. She had a strong personality and a big heart that left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.

Most importantly, Debra accepted Christ at Unity Baptist Church in Kannapolis, North Carolina, and her faith gives comfort to those who know this is not the end, but the beginning of eternal life. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.

Her love lives on in all of us.

A graveside service to celebrate Debra’s life will be held on Friday, April 3 at 11:00 AM in West End Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to attend and celebrate her life.
