Willa Mae (Umberger) Dake Obituary

Willa Mae (Umberger) Dake age 73, of Wytheville, passed away on April 13, 2026.


She was born on May 14, 1952, to the late Jasper W. Umberger and Ruth Layne Umberger. She is preceded in death by her brother Danny L. Umberger, brother-in-law, William “Billy” Paisley, and sister-in-law, Margaret Umberger.


She is survived by her husband, George Dake, seven children J.J. and Kung Brownlee of California, Josh and Aerin Brownlee of South Carolina, Jamae Lewis of Wytheville, Tammy Dake and Daniel Campbell of Hampton, Trina Dake of Wytheville, Sherry and Joe James of Missouri, Shannon and Matt Brenneke of Missouri; siblings O. C. “Sonny” of Salem; Angelia Paisley of Wytheville; Kathy Witt of Wytheville; twelve grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. All of her survivors loved her dearly as she loved them.


Celebration of Life will take place May 2nd at 3:00pm at 1900 W. Ridge Rd Wytheville, VA. There will also be a potluck dinner to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to any of the following organizations in support of her interests:
