Johnny Luke Eller Obituary

Johnny L. Eller, 83, of Rural Retreat, Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2026.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Franklin Eller; his mother, Lena Emma Fleenor; and his wife, Anne Carole Eller.

He is survived by his daughter, Faith S. Cox; his sister, Nancy Chambers; and his niece and her husband, Layna and Gary Evans.

Johnny loved the outdoors and all of God’s creatures, and more than anything, he loved the Lord. He often wondered what Heaven would be like, and with peaceful hearts, his family finds comfort in knowing he is now seeing its glory. During the final stages of his life, there were several angels here on earth who looked after him. The family would like to sincerely thank Susan Hunter for her love, compassion, and the time she spent by his side. She was Johnny’s devoted buddy. The amazing, caring staff of Caris Hospice provided support and weekly updates that brought great comfort. The nurses of Holston Health/Rehab also offered steadfast support as they lovingly cared for him over the past years. Our family is deeply grateful for the people God placed in our lives to look after the man we loved so much.

A private interment with family members will be held at a later date.

Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.grubbfuneralhome.com
