Helen Wyelda Catron Wilson Obituary
Helen Wyelda Catron Wilson, 90, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2026. She was born in Wythe County, VA, on October 26, 1935, and was the only daughter and seventh child of Lewis H. Catron and Vivian K. Catron. She was predeceased by her parents; her brothers, Lewis H. Catron, Jr., Charles C. Catron, Darrell B. Catron, Dewey W. Catron, and William R. Catron; and her nephews, William F. Catron, David C. Catron, Terry W. Catron, and Jeffrey T. Catron. She is survived by her brother, Rodney N. Catron of Virginia Beach, VA; nephew, William R. Catron (Rabbit) of Rural Retreat, VA; nieces, Teresa C. Peters of Chesapeake, VA, Vicki C. Allred of Roanoke, VA, and Candy C. Knight of Monroe, NC; and several great nephews and nieces and great-great nephews and nieces. She also left behind many special cousins, including Wanda Hall, Donna Lethco, and Sylvia Williams, and dear friends.
After graduating from George Wythe High School, she pursued a career as an electronics designer working for various firms in Salem, VA and Charlotte, NC. Helen enjoyed gardening, playing cards, and participating in Senior Olympic sports and was known to be a fierce competitor in whatever she did.
The family extends a special thanks to neighbor and friend, Betsy Perkins, and caregivers, Debbie Hall, Suri Dickinson, and Lee Ann Mundy.
She was a devoted daughter, sister, niece, and aunt who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
The funeral will be held on July 24, 2026, at Mt. Ephraim Church with visitation at 11 am followed by the memorial service at noon. Expressions of sympathy can be sent to the family at www.grubbfuneralhome.com
