William Larry Dunford, 82 of Wytheville, VA, passed away on August 7, 2026.

Larry proudly served in the United States Air Force following graduation from Fort Chiswell High School. Then later went on to work with the United States Post Office with 25 years of service and Wythe County Schools. He had a heart for the smallest to the oldest of persons. From making sure little ones had a wonderful Christmas, to providing meals to those in need. Larry loved sharing the word of God for over 55 years to his Sunday School class members.

He was preceded in death by his parents Thurn and Edith Porter Dunford and several brothers and sisters.

Left to cherish his memories are wife of 51 years Debra Dunford; sister, Faye Dunford; special cousin whom he loved like a daughter, Michele ‘Chele’ Campbell (Greg); his loving godchildren – Hannah Blevins (J-Rod) and their children Reagan and Whitley to whom he was “Paw Paw“, Jared Hovencamp (Amanda) and their children Ella, Deacon, and Benton, and Dusty Aker.

Debbie’s family loved him like their own: Sadie Anderson, Terry Allison and children, Tammy DeBord (Scott) and children, Hazel Robertson and JoAnn Johnson; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of special friends.

Funeral service will be held at Grubb Funeral Home in Wytheville on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at 7:00 P.M with Reverend Tony Hodge officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home before service time from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. at the West End Cemetery in Wytheville, VA.
