Kay, I was saddened to hear of Hayden's passing. Humble and kind describes Hayden and I never ran into him that this description did not come to mind. I am so sorry for your loss as he was a good man and loyal to the citizens of Wythe County. Hayden met no stranger and always wore a smile. It was a privilege to know him. Prayers for you and your family during this difficult time. The video was beautiful and showed a deep love of family. God bless and keep each of you.

My sincerest sympathies goes out his loving family. Hayden was a great gentleman always a kind word, his quick wit, and for his love of his family and his community! I was very blessed to have him a part of my life and I’m so glad I was able to see him over the holidays, even thought it broke my heart to see him ailing like he was. My continued thoughts and prayers are with you all!!

I first met Hayden when I was a Deputy Clerk for the Circuit Court of Fauquier County.in the 1980's. We often attended the same court conferences and the annual meetings of the Virginia Court Clerks Association. I learned early on that he was a dedicated Clerk of Court who loved his county and its citizens. He became a dear friend over the many years I knew him. I always looked forward to our conferences and meetings so that we could share stories and meals with all our other Clerk friends. I know he fought his illness for quite a while, but God has another angel now in Heaven. My deepest sympathy to Kay and his family. Rest in peace dear friend.
Gail H. Barb, Clerk of Fauquier County Circuit Court

I moved to this county and knew no one. In doing my genealogy I was surprised to find out that Hayden and I were 4th cousins. I only met him a few times, but he was from my mama's people and that meant he was good people. I offer my prayers to his loved ones that are left behind.
God Bless,

Hayden was the ultimate good guy. He was my first friend when I moved here, and I used to love talking politics with him. Hayden was revered in Richmond for his service to the Commonwealth, and a real icon in our court system.
Sometimes, I would just drop by to say hello, and I, like so many people, will really miss him. We love you Kay, Heather, Randy and McKenzie.. Hang in there.
