I fondly remember as a child spending a week of summer camp at the Word of Life Christian camp. Our family stayed with Mary before and after the camp week. She was very hospitable letting are family of four stay in her modest little trailer. She also fed us. I remember one year she took us for a hike up a local mountain. I remember that it was a difficult hike and she did it with ease. When we reached the top the view was amazing, like a famous picture. If I remember correctly you could see Schroon Lake down below with the mountains in the background. That was my first experience hiking to a summit for a view. I’ve continued my love of the outdoors and hiking to this day. Locally I’ve hiked all the New England high peaks and want to continue to do as many states as I can. Last February I hiked Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania Africa.
