Obituary of Loveleen (Copenhaver) Hanes

Loveleen (Copenhaver) Hanes, 94, of Wytheville, VA, died Monday, January 4, 2021, at Carrington Place of Wytheville. Born January 9, 1926, in Max Meadows, VA, she was the daughter of the late James W. and Winnie (Shockley) Copenhaver. Mrs. Hanes was a former employee of the DuPont Company and of Martinsville High School, in Martinsville, VA. Her most treasured occupations were that of a homemaker and mother. Having lived in the Martinsville/Henry County area for over 60 years, “Love” was involved in many school, community, and church activities, and had many close friends throughout her life. She was a long-time member of Villa Heights Baptist Church in Martinsville, VA. While growing up, she attended Anchor of Hope Presbyterian Church in Max Meadows, VA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy W. Hanes, Sr., and sisters Jewell Copenhaver Smith and Dora Copenhaver Roberts. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Billy W., Jr., and Dorie Hanes, of Virginia Beach, VA, grandsons, Will Hanes of Richmond, VA, and Jack Hanes of Vienna, VA; sisters and brothers-in-law, Georgia & Thomas Jackson of Max Meadows, VA, and Mary & Donald Crockett of Wytheville, VA; brother and sister-in-law James and Janet Copenhaver of Collinsville, VA; and numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 7, 2021, at 2 pm, at West End Cemetery, Wytheville, VA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or to the charity of your choice.
