Obituary of Zelma Faye Wohlford Tarter

In the early morning hours of August 3, 2021 Heaven gained another Angel, Zelma Faye Wohlford Tarter. She was born on July 19, 1925 to the late Allen Reed and Nettie Mae Irvin Wohlford. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Robert Tarter; her beloved son, Michael Tarter; three brothers, Reed, Clayton, Fred and Willis; three sisters, Myra, Elizabeth, and her twin Thelma. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Terry Irvin of Crockett; daughter-in-law, Donnie Tarter of Crockett; her four treasured grandchildren, Jenny Tarter, Tanya Fontaine, Artie and Melissa Irvin; Abbie Irvin and Tim Wall; her five Cherished great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Copenhaver and Dusty Sage, Tucker and Mazzie Fontaine, Avery and Mia Irvin; one brother, Danny and Nancy Wohlford; two sisters, Audrey Copenhaver and Vivian Worton; sisters-in-law, Betty Wolford and Nellie Catron; and a host of nieces and nephews and friends. Funeral service will be held 1 P.M. Thursday, August 5, 2021 at Mt. Ephraim with the Pastor Steve Alderman officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Ephraim Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. Thursday at the Mt. Ephraim Church. A special thanks to Wythe Hospice of Southwest Virginia, Reva Anderson and Shirley Vipperman her loving caregivers, and for all the love and support from Family and Friends during the years of her illness.
