Obituary of Mabeline Campanello Robinson

Sixty-five years together on Earth now reunited in Heaven for eternity. Mabeline Campanello Robinson of Wytheville, VA passed away Thursday, August 10, 2023. She was born October 22, 1933, in Princeton, WV to the late Virgie Virginia Young Campanello Kroah and Santa Vito Campanello. Mabeline was preceded by her loving husband Elton Kent Robinson on January 21, 2021, and precious grandson Patrick Aaron Robinson on December 7, 2022. She was also preceded by her stepfather, John T. Kroah; brothers Eugene and Augustine Campanello; sisters Lourine Shrewsbury, Jardine Pippin, Rosaline Pettrey, Javeline Willis, Pauline Smith and Christine Elmore. Mabeline graduated from Princeton High School in 1954 and married Elton on May 23, 1956. They moved to Wytheville in 1960 where they enjoyed raising their two children and invested deeply into the community. Mabeline held several positions with Wythe County Schools and retired in 1993. She and Elton volunteered extensively at Wytheville Baptist Church, Wythe County Hospital, delivering food to shelters and supporting the annual Chautauqua festival. They constantly reached out to others in need to ensure they had transportation to appointments and plenty of food and supplies. Mabeline was known as an avid bridge player who taught many family members and friends how to play over the years. She and Elton enjoyed square-dancing where they met several life-long friends. Mabeline loved taking care of her grandchildren and family gatherings. Survivors include her son, Michael Robinson and wife Angie, and daughter, Angela Rothrock; grandchildren, Kent Robinson, Wade Rothrock and wife Leah, Julia Rothrock and boyfriend Alex, Zach Houston and wife Maggie and great-granddaughter Coley, granddaughter-in-law Deanna Watson Robinson, and great-grandson Cal. Nieces and nephews; Duane and Donna Campanello, Carolyn Ragan, Dee Puckett, Cyndi Smith, Bobby Watson, Billy Robinson, Greg Robinson, Leigh Trippe, Leslie Prillaman and Herman, Mark, and Philip Hearn. After many years of taking care of others, Mabeline was blessed over the last few years with wonderful caregivers who truly loved her. In keeping with Mabeline’s wishes her body has been cremated. The family is planning a celebration of life for Mabeline & Elton later this fall.
