Obituary of Ada Gaye Roberts Miller

Ada Gaye Roberts Miller, better known as Gaye Miller, age, 95, of Elk Creek, VA passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2023, at her home. She was born in Grayson County on June 24, 1928, to James Cornelius “Neal” and Ada Elizabeth Martin Roberts. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Argil Miller; her daughter, Betty Jane Medina; granddaughter, Roxann Pyrtle; sisters, Trula Webb, Edith Cornett, Leota Kruse, Lena Wave Rhymer, and Dolly Powers; two brothers, French Roberts and Gerald Roberts. She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Hale of Speedwell, VA; two grandsons, Anthony Smith of Winston-Salem, NC and Gregory Hale of Cripple Creek, VA; two great-grandchildren, Hanna Smith of Winston-Salem, NC and Garrett Hale of Chilhowee, VA. Mrs. Miller was active in the Grayson County V.F.W. Post #7726 Auxiliary and the Elk Creek Rescue Squad. She was a dedicated and faithful member of the Forrest United Methodist Church for over 70 years. She will be remembered as a faithful and loving wife, caring and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. While her family considered her the best baker and cook, she was also celebrated as a talented gardener, both vegetables and flowers. Many respected her preserving and canning skills. She enjoyed quilting as a pastime hobby. Mrs. Miller was an involved and dedicated member of the Elk Creek Community. Her presence will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday afternoon, October 25, 2023, at 2:00 PM at the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gleasanna Dixon and Ricky Edwards officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Forrest Cemetery in Elk Creek.
