Obituary of Linda Akers Porter

Linda Akers Porter age 83, of Wytheville, passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2024. She was born July 25, 1940 to the late James Clyde and Georgia Marsh Akers. Linda was a member of the Fairview Church and retired from the United States Postal Service. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Orville Porter and a brother, J.C. Akers. Survivors include her three daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Andy Smith of WVA, Cindy and Bob Davis of Moneta, Teresa Porter of Roanoke, and son and daughter-in-law, Mickey and Holly Porter of Wytheville; three grandchildren and spouses, Virginia Ann Arnold, William Lake and Elizabeth Smith, Emily and B.J. Buchanan; four great-grandchildren, Ryleigh, Brooklyn, Ingrid and Ada; special niece, Trish Ashford Voreh; and many nieces and nephews, Amber and Rodney Hovencamp; James Clyde Beckner, Johnathon and Amanda Akers, Nathaniel Akers, Debbie and Freddie Kitts, Gary Ashford, Tammy Lawson, Jackie and Steve Johnson and Rannie Porter. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at 11 A.M. at the Fairview Church with Pastor Aubrey Whitlow, Pastor Ted Anders, and Pastor Sam Sweeney officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 P.M. Monday at the Grubb Funeral Home.
