Obituary of Donna Michelle Viars Fisher

Donna Michelle Viars Fisher, age 56, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family and friends on June 6, 2023. She was a lifelong resident of Max Meadows and a graduate of Fort Chiswell High School. She received her Bachelor’s degree in social work from Radford University. Her early career started at Southern Highlands in Princeton, WV and she later went to work at her current employer, Mount Rogers Community Services in Wytheville. She was an active member of Fort Chiswell United Methodist Church where she attended with her parents her entire life. Michelle had an infectious passion for sports, she faithfully attended high school football games as much as possible where she always cheered for the Pioneers. She also was an avid baseball fan and followed the Los Angeles Dodgers. She loved her old classic rock music and her special collection of turtles. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by her high school sweetheart and husband of 33 years, Jerry Wayne Fisher; her pride and joy, daughter, Kristen Cox, and husband Brent; granddaughter, Ellie Michelle Cox; parents, James and Phyllis Viars; Brother and Sister-in-law, Sean and Cheryl Viars; Sister and Brother-in-law, Dana and Clyde Dunford; Brother in-law and Sister-in-law, Stephen and Sandy Fisher. Several nephews, one niece and many loving uncles, aunts, cousins, and close friends. Funeral Services to be held 2 P.M. Friday, June 9, 2023, at Grubb Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Reverend Rick Lindamood, with interment to follow in West End Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 12 noon until service time. The family would like to express their gratitude for the wonderful help and care given by Wythe Hospice of Southwest Virginia.
