Obituary of Joyce "Tiny" Lake Grubb Hawkins
Joyce “Tiny” Lake Grubb Hawkins made her journey to her heavenly home at the age of 79 on Tuesday, March 12, 2024.
Joyce was born May 30, 1944 in the Greasy Creek area of Wythe County. Tiny is preceded in death by the love of her life, Thurman Paul Lephew Jr. of Austinville, her parents, John and Frances Grubb of Wytheville, her brother Michael Grubb of Wytheville, and her brothers-in-law, Jerry Cox , Larry Copenhaver and Boone Stroupe all of Wytheville.
Joyce is survived by many family members. Her daughters Vickie and Byron Schram of Wytheville, Diane Hawkins of Grahams Forge, and Karen Hawkins (Eric Ball) of Wytheville. Her grandchildren Meghan (Chase), Tyler, Emily (Justin), and Sara (Dustin); as well as her greatgrandchildren, Melanie, Kamryn, and Declan. Not only was she a beloved mother and grandmother, Tiny was the eldest of her siblings. She is survived by John Robert “J.R.” Grubb of Wytheville, Sandra Stroupe of Wytheville, Wanda & Steve Foley of Grahams Forge, Martha Copenhaver (Hubert “Hubie” Copenhaver) of Wytheville, Patty Cox of Greenville, South Carolina, Tammy Grubb (Rocky Wyrick) of Wytheville, Ronald Grubb (Lonnie Conrad) of Buckhannon, West Virginia. Other survivors include her aunt, Ann Layne of Wytheville, special best friends Carolyn Wohlford of Speedwell, David Ryan of Marion and special nurse, Amy Kerns and Deanna Hines CNA; several generational nieces and nephews and other extended family.
Funeral services will be held at Grubb Funeral Home of Wytheville on Sunday, March 17, 2024 at 3pm with speaker David Ryan and Pastor Richard Collins officiating. The family will receive friends from 1-3pm. Graveside service to follow immediately after at Berea Christian Church in Wytheville.
