It was always a pleasure to see Iris. She was always so happy and cheerful and she lifted your spirits just being around her. I enjoyed visiting her home and learning family history that she could share with me. I will miss those visits but I knew she was getting weaker from the last time I was there. I know she is having a wonderful reunion in heaven with all of her family.

My family and I had the privilege of knowing Iris for several years. Even though we were not family, she made us feel so welcome when we visited with her. She was such a giving and caring person and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. It was an honor to know Iris. Linda Healy and family

my sweet aunt iris, i don’t even know where to begin. she was such a pure soul, always helped anybody that she possibly could. she was always so supportive in all of endeavors, reminding me of how proud she was. she was so strong & independent, & one of the smartest ladies i am ever to encounter. she taught me values that i hope to be capable of exhibiting, both now & throughout my life.
she would tell me & gavin stories of our family history & all of her adventures. & from those stories alone, all i can think is of what a wonderful life she has lived.
i’m grateful for each & every moment that i got to spend with her. her guidance & support. i will always strive to be at least half of the woman she was. without her, i don’t know where my family would be today. i cannot express how thankful i will always be for her grace in my life. please give pappy & grandma tammy a big hug for me. until we meet again, i love you so much.
- Cheyenne

My Aunt Iris was one of a kind. Her heart and soul was pure. She was a beauty inside and out and everyone loved her. My kids and I loved her and adored her deeply. She always said that she was proud of Cheyenne for her hard and dedication and success in cheyennes school. That Cheyenne was becoming a lovely young lady. Aunt Iris and Gavin were two peas in a pod. Gavin pretty much had Aunt Iris wrapped around his finger. She always said that Gavin was "her boy". Everytime Aunt Iris seen Gavin, her face lit up. Aunt Iris was so proud of him. For me, Aunt Iris was an angel. She was there for my good times and my bad ones. She never judged me no matter what the situation was. I really don't open up well to people but she was one of the very few that I could talk to about anything. When I called her to see how she was doing, I would ask her if she was being good and behaving (just to make her smile), she would often tell me that she was trying or there wasnt anything to get into. Since she has been gone I have caught myself picking up my phone to call her but then I realize she's gone. When she started to be unwell, I saved a voice mail that she had left me so I could always go and hear her voice. I know that Aunt Iris is at home with God and our loved ones. She was an angel here on Earth and now she's an angel in Heaven. I will miss her love, her wisdom, her life stories, her beautiful smile and everything about her.
I want to thank you again Aunt Iris. For all that you have done for my kids and myself. I truly do and I appreciate it more than you will ever know. And that we love you bunches and we will really miss you! You will always be my "Pretty Lady". You were such a blessing to my kids, myself and to everyone that knew you! God bless you Aunt Iris! Till we meet again my love.....

Our family was blessed with Mrs. Quackenbish as a close neighbor for the past 13 yrs. From the very first day we met her, she became apart of our family. She never missed a Christmas without giving us candy and a card, nor did she ever miss giving our son a birthday card with money each and every year. Knowing her was knowing a fountain of youth and knowledge as she was always out doing in the yard or vividly telling a story in such a way, you felt just like you were there living it. She was a pure inspiration to us all, of living life to the fullest.. She will definitely be missed by our entire family. We thank God for allowing our paths to have crossed. Until we meet again.

Dear Aunt Iris, May you rest in peace and enjoy the view from Heaven with all the other Angels and Saints. Cherishing the history you shared so freely and fondly remembering our summer fun at your New Jersey house with the pool. Remembering you in this cute photo.

Sister Iris,
I thank GOD for giving you the strength to call me a few hours before he called you to your heavenly home. Your final words will never leave my mind or soul. All of our cards, letters and calls, plus my treat of a cruise to Hawaii for your Birthday are memories I shall always cherish. Your guidance as my oldest sibling was never taken for granted. So now I must let you rest in peace and only ask you to keep your angel wings wrapped around me.
Until I see you at the Pearly Gates, Love you, Your Baby Sister

Iris made the world a better place through her caring and selfless acts of love. She always remembered birthdays and anniversaries, marking them with heart felt cards full of love. Whether living or past, she loved her family. She was the one who knew the genealogy and was diligent in making sure that information was passed on.
Picture is from her Memorial Day tradition of making sure flowers were on the family graves.
She will be missed, but not forgotten. Every
Time I see an Iris in all its beauty, I smile thinking of you.
Love Joe Grubb and Valissa

Aunt Iris was one of the best of them. I am thankful she had such a long life and didn't seem to suffer much. I'm thankful she was always there for my mom. I'm thankful she never forgot a birthday card for my kids. I'm thankful she is in a better place where she feels nothing but peace and comfort. I'm thankful she was part of my family. God bless you, Aunt Iris.

Iris Warden Quackenbush was the most amazing woman I have ever known. She was the best female influence I have had throughout my life. I learned more from her than anyone. She made it her passion to help people. She loved God, her son Craig, and all of her family. She lived her life to the fullest.
Iris took care of my Dad, Harold Warden, many times. She made the long trip from Rural Retreat to Silver Spring, MD to care for my sister, Tammy Warden Roark, for three months as Tammy declined and passed away. She always did the hard stuff, no matter how hard it was. She always talked me through family crisis and somehow made things calm. She brought peace and happiness to everyone.
I love this woman with every ounce of my being. I am a changed person because of her. I will always honor her by becoming a better person each and every day. I told her when I was young I wanted to be just like her. That remains my goal in life.
We always laughed about our names. When I was small, she was big Iris and I was little Iris. As I aged and my height hovered over her, I became big Iris. We joked about it all the time. I saved many a voice mail messages just to hear her say "Iris, this is Iris.." I will never delete them.
I love you more than words can say, Aunt Iris.
Your niece,
Iris Mae Warden Rush
