I am so very sorry to hear of Lucy's passing. She was the most amazing woman, pure love and generosity. I remember her being the consummate hostess and her yummy ham biscuits were the best. Her family was always so important to her. She ran a beautiful cattle farm which seemed a daunting task to me. My Dad, TC Bowen Jr., would bring me my brother and maybe the cousins to the farm and we would run wild and go see the old mill, which was fascinating. I remember her taking such good care of her Dad. I can see Meek Hoge now sitting in a chair and he and TC spinning tall tales in the Bowen tradition. We were told that we looked like cousins, which I think is true. I regret that I did not make it back to VA to see Lucy one more time before she left us. I know her family has a lot of sweet memories.
I will make a donation to The Humane Society in Lucy's name.
I was sorry to miss the memorial as was my brother and family and my daughter and her husband. We only heard of Lucy's passing a couple of days ago. I am guessing our contact info was not available. But please know that we would have, or would have tried to be there. We all loved her so much.

I had the privilege of teaching with Lucy in the late sixties..She was my mentor…I was blessed with remaining a lifetime friend! Her grace and beauty grew with age! I have been fortunate to have had her in my life. THANK YOU LUCY !

I am so sorry to hear about Mrs. Litton's passing. She was my 1st grade teacher at Spiller. I was thinking about her just the other day, wondering if she was still here or if she had already entered heaven's gates. May God pour his blessings on the family grieving their loss. I lost my Mom in June. The ache is still very real but knowing she is in heaven helps a lot, as I am sure you will find comfort knowing that as well.

We are so sorry to hear of the passing of Lucy. Our condolences and prayers are with the family. Lucy was so gracious and lovely. Her friendship and kindness to me has always been so endearing and appreciated. Her greetings always made me feel special, with a wonderful warmth and real feeling. Lucy was accomplished and so intelligent but always made others feel comfortable with her gracious smile.. Lucy loved her family and was proud of each one. Lucy was loved by all who knew her.
