Karen Burkhardt Hanks age 56, of Max Meadows, passed away on Monday October 7, 2024. She was born on June 25, 1968 to her late father, Alvis Burkhardt and her mother, Shirley Chappell Burkhardt. She was a Registered Nurse at New River Valley Medical Center where she was a two-time recipient of the Daisy Award and a Member of the Liberty Hill Pentecostal Holliness Church. Karen was a Loving Wife, Mother and Nana, and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her husband of 37 years, Jeffrey Hanks of Max Meadows; daughter and son-in-law, Jessica and Justin Martin of Max Meadows; son, Jonathan Hanks of Wytheville; granddaughter, Sophia; twin brother, Darren Burkhardt of Fries.

Graveside service will be held 2 P.M. Friday, October 11, 2024 at the West End Cemetery with Pastor Josh Graham and Pastor Anthony Cain officiating.
