Obituary of Kelly Glenn Puckett
Kelly Glenn Puckett shuffled off this mortal coil on Friday, December 6 th 2024 after being
impounded at Wythe County Community Hospital for what can only be described as a brief and tragic condition.
The condition that he suffered from was advanced TMB syndrome. Too many birthdays affect us all. Kelly, however, had just recently passed another birthday and his TMB became lethal.
Kelly is survived by his wife, Jody. Also surviving are his sons and daughters-in-law, Brian Kelly and Terri Puckett, Zach and Chelsea Puckett, and his beloved daughter, Jamie Puckett Blair. Kelly was a stepfather to Jody’s children, Joseph Coley and Steven Coley as well as a father-in-law and future father-in-law to their spouses Amanda Coley and Alexa Alouf.
There are numerous grandchildren, one great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Kelly’s mother, Alma Testerman, also survives.
Kelly had retired several years ago after a long and storied work life. He was employed at Textron Industries, better known as the “Screw Factory” in Wytheville for many years. He was one of the last employees at the factory when it shut its doors for good.
His last job was as a CNA at Southwest Virginia Mental Health Institute in Marion VA. Those who knew him best were not surprised he was at a mental health facility; they were even more shocked that he had the keys.
An avid motorcycle aficionado from a young age, he enjoyed many trips throughout the country, riding a large assortment of bikes including his favorite, a Triumph Bonneville.
He was a dedicated father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and his affectionate humor will be greatly missed by all who knew him. The world is a lot less humorous without him in it.
The family will receive friends Thursday, December 12, 2024, from 4pm-6pm at Grubb Funeral Home in Wytheville, with a short service following at 6pm. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.grubbfuneralhome.com
