Obituary of James "Jim" Edward Mabe

James “Jim” Edward Mabe went Home to be with the Lord on January 12, 2025. He was the son of the late Harry Samuel Mabe and Ida Mae Via. He was born in Pulaski Hospital on August 7, 1934, the ninth and last child in the family. He loved the Lord and was saved at Fellowship Baptist Church in Wytheville, VA where he was a member for 60 years. He served as a Sunday School teacher, bus driver, usher, deacon, trustee, and grounds keeper. Jim worked for the New Jersey Zinc Company in Ivanhoe, VA and retired in 1979 after a mining accident. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, and outdoor activities. He was an avid gardener. He is preceded in death by his parents Harry and Ida (Via) Mabe, six brothers, two sisters, and great-granddaughter Savannah Nichols. Jim is also survived by his loving sweetheart, Sandra (Cassell) Mabe of 66 years and 10 months. He was a dedicated father to three daughters, Susan and (Jimmy) Nichols, Patricia and (Tim) Burnham, Mary and (Steve) Chrisley; eight grandchildren and families; ten great- grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 11am, Thursday morning, January 16, 2025, at the Grubb Funeral Home Chapel in Wytheville, VA with Evangelist Jimmy Nichols and Tim Burnham officiating. The family will receive friends from 10am-11am on Thursday. Graveside service will follow at the West End Cemetery in Wytheville, VA conducted by Pastor Andrew Davis.
