Regina Carder

Obituary of Regina Mae Carder

Regina Mae Aker Carder, 38, of Wytheville, Virginia, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, Dec. 20; finding peace in the loving arms of her Lord.

Regina, known by family & friends as their “Gina”, found joy making people smile with her constant humor. If she could have worn a Minions shirt or outfit every day, she certainly would have.

A 1997 graduate of George Wythe High School, Gina was passionate about music, movies, reading and her beloved cat, Harley. Just like her mother, the late Debra Davidson Richardson, she enjoyed football and was a lifelong Oakland Raiders fan. Gina will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her children, Lilly and Durstan Carder of Cornelius, North Carolina; her father, Ronnie Aker, of Max Meadows, Virginia; and her sister, Samantha Richardson, of Green Bay, Wisconsin. Gina is survived by aunts & uncles to include: Peggy Thompson, of Salisbury, North Carolina; Doris and Curby Perkins, Shawsville, Virginia; Sammy and Kathy Davidson, Bland, Virginia; Zona and John Jones, Ikey and Lisa Davidson, Mary Jo and Gary Poole, Steve and Martha Stoots, Billy and Daveine Dale, Joey and Angie Spain, Tresia Stroupe, and Jeff Aker, all from Wytheville, Virginia; hosts of cousins also survive. Gina is also survived by ‘second mom’ Kathy Anderson who was there for the family in times of need and took care of Gina.

Regina was preceded in death by her mother, Debra Davidson Richardson; Grandparents, Iva Jean Felts Aker, David A Aker, Lelia Mae Lawson Davidson and Samuel Davidson.

We would like Gina’s legacy to be the value of a life, regardless of length or struggle. She tried until the end, with her final act of love being the willingness to serve as an organ donor. A memorial service will be held 2 PM Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Grubb Funeral Home Chapel conducted by The Reverend Aubrey Whitlow, with a Celebration of Life to follow at the Wytheville Moose Lodge. Expression of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.grubbfuneralhome.com

Grubb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
