Obituary of Douglas Wayne Hudson, Sr.
Douglas Wayne Hudson, Sr. age 73, of Max Meadows, passed away Monday, May 2, 2016.He was the son of the late John H. & Goldie Wheeler Hudson, an employee for Volvo with 29 years of service, a United States Navy Veteran, and a member of St. Paul Pentecostal Holiness Church. Wayne was preceded in death by his son, Donnie Hudson; brothers, Jack Hudson, Robert Hudson, Ted Hudson, John Hudson, Jr.; sisters, Margaret Ratcliff, Jean Smythers, Louise Lins, Frances Bass, Elizabeth Dunford. He is survived by his wife, Bonetta Hudson of Max Meadows; daughters and son-in-law, Wendy & Sam Viars of Max Meadows, Ashly Hudson & Friend Kristen Bradshaw of Wytheville; sons and daughters-in-law, Jack & Stephanie Hudson of Wytheville, Douglas Wayne, Jr. & Pat Hudson of Max Meadows, sisters and brother-in-law, Beulah Dunford of Max Meadows, Becky & Harry Rogers, Jr. of Max Meadows; grandchildren and spouses, Will & Kelli Hudson of Pulaski, Samuel “Hody” Viars & Fianc’ee Miranda Knuckles of Wytheville, Gavyn Viars of Austinville, Samantha & Mathew Stanley of Mt. Airy; great grandchildren, Landry Hudson, Colton Stanley, Grayson Stanley; foster children, Lisa, Eddie; several nieces, nephews, and extended family members also survive.
Funeral service will be held at 1 P.M. Friday May 6, 2016 at St. Paul Pentecostal Holiness Church conducted by The Reverend J.C. McPeak and The Reverend Don Scott with interment to follow in the West End Cemetery. American Legion Post #9 will conduct Military Graveside Rites. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5 P.M. until 7 P.M. at the church. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, 240 College Park Dr., Wytheville, VA. 24382. Grubb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
