Obituary of Francis Joseph Stewart
Francis Joseph Stewart was a good man with a big heart. He went to meet his heavenly Father March 12, 2018. He was born May 9, 1932 in Scranton, PA and was preceded in death by his father, Herbert Franklin Stewart, his mother Catherine Noone Stewart, and his sister-in-law Eileen. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Carroll Canada Stewart, two sons Kevin and his wife, Lisa Stewart of Leesburg, VA and Timothy Stewart of Elizabethton, TN. One brother Herbert James Stewart of Scranton, PA and a niece Peggy Ann and husband Mark Leombruni of Scranton, PA.
Frank proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps 1952-1955. He was employed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation 1955 to 1960. He served one year with the Arlington County Virginia Police Dept. in 1961. He attended South Eastern University in Washington, DC 1962-1964. He finished his career at the Central Intelligence Agency from 1962-1987. After his retirement he volunteered for Loudoun County Social Services until we moved to Wytheville, VA in 1997. He was one of the original volunteers for the Agape Food Pantry for about twelve years.
A memorial service will be held 12 noon Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Grubb Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Bernie Ramirez and Reverend Tim Irving officiating, with interment to follow in the West End Cemetery. The family will receive friends, Saturday from 11 A.M. until service time. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to be made in Frank’s memory to The Agape Food Pantry, 405 West Main Street, Wytheville, VA 24382.
