"You're a Grand Old Flag, You're a High Flying Flag, and Forever in Peace May You Wave." If you were one of the hundreds of students trained by Mrs. Godfriaux, there is no doubt you have vivid memories of performing that rousing patriotic quartet at some point in your musical training. Mrs. Godfriaux shared her extensive gift and distinguished training with countless local students to encourage and develop their untapped musical talent. Her dedication not only inspired a generation of younger musicians, but it also created a savvy musical awareness in the adult population not often encountered in small communities. While Wytheville mourns the loss of a true pioneer and musical innovator, Heaven is rejoicing in the last strain of their newest musical interlude, "Should Old Acquaintance Be Forgot, Keep Your Eye On the Grand Old Flag."
