Obituary of Warren "Pete" Phillippi

Warren “Pete” Phillippi, 67, of Wytheville, Virginia, passed away peacefully at his home following a lengthy illness on Sunday, September 16.

Pete was born in Wytheville, Virginia, to Richard E. and Lucille Hilton Phillippi on September 12, 1951. He attended George Wythe High School and graduated from Fork Union Military Academy. He attended Tennessee Wesleyan University and Virginia Polytechnic Institute. During his working years, he was a partner in Richard E. Phillippi Construction Company and managed both Comfort and Ramada Inns in Wytheville.

He is survived by his wife, Norma Cannoy Phillippi of Wytheville, son Samual Kirk Phillippi and wife Michelle, daughter Sally Phillippi Dunford and husband Chip, stepson Harold “Monty” Mills and wife Robin, stepdaughter Lorri Mills Huffard and husband John, brother Richard E. Phillippi and wife Linda, brother John B. Phillippi and wife Patricia, sister Patricia Phillippi Pope, five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, two nephews, and five nieces.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Wytheville Community College Educational Foundation, 1000 East Main Street, Wytheville, Virginia, to establish a scholarship in his honor.

Funeral service will be held at the Grubb Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, September 21, 2018, at 3 p.m., with Reverend Jonathan Hamman officiating. Visitation will be held at Grubb Funeral Home on Friday from 2 to 3 p.m. Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.grubbfuneralhome.com
