Obituary of James T. Wilson

James T. “Junior” Wilson, Jr., age 93, of Wytheville passed away Friday, February 12, 2016. He was born in Tazewell County, the son of the late James T. “Jim” Wilson and Esther Hedrick Wilson. He was a WWII veteran of the 86th Infantry Division known as the “Blackhawks.” He was a founding and long-time member of the Wythe County Rescue Squad and had been an active member in Mt. Pleasant and Newbern United Methodist Churches. Before retirement he operated Virginia Parts Company NAPA store and shop. After retirement his time was filled with fishing, woodworking and helping other people. He was preceded in death by his wife Alma Kincer Wilson, sister and brother-in-law Helen and Melvin Semones, brothers Paul and Liston Arrowood Wilson, and son-in-law Robert Franklin Fields. He is survived by his; daughter, Mary Ann Wilson Fields, of Wytheville; son & daughter-in-law, Dr. James T. “Tom” & Nancy DeVilbiss Wilson, of Roanoke; siblings & spouses, Ernest and Millie Wilson, of Wytheville, Virginia and Roy Poe, of Kingsport TN.; grandchildren & spouses, Fran & Marty Stallard, Rob & Karen Fields, all of Wytheville, Dr. David & Shelley Schwartz Wilson, Jennifer & Brian Buckett, all of Charlottesville, Elizabeth D. Wilson, of Washington, DC,; great-grandchildren & spouses, Amy & Scott Fleming, of Suffolk, Lauren & Jonathan Dickinson, of Pulaski, Briana Fields, of Christiansburg, Haley & Aaron Rider, of Fort Hood, Texas, Morgan Stallard, Noah Stallard, Isaac Stallard, Ashley Jones, Alli Jones, all of Wytheville, Evan Wilson, of Charlottesville; great-great grandchildren, Chase Fleming, Beau Fleming, Paisley Jones, Uriah Rider; nieces, Marie Taylor, Linda-Rae Martin, Diana Vaughn, Karen Allison Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church conducted by The Reverend Amy Whatley and The Reverend Joe Mack Taylor with interment in the church cemetery. American Legion Post #9 will conduct Military graveside rites. The family will receive friends at the church Wednesday February 17, 2016 from 1 p.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Community Food Kitchen of Hope Charities, H.O.P.E. Ministry Center - P.O.
